EmptyCreate Game Engine Release 5

Release 5 of the EmptyCrate Game Engine was just posted.

This release addresses a single bug: the drupal Creative Commons Lite 6.x-1.2 module has a function name change that breaks the EmptyCrate Game Engine.

As always, check out game.emptycrate.com for examples.

Pinheads Is Now an Award Winning Game

I thought I would take a moment to mention that Pinheads: Everything You Need is now an award winning game. Pinheads was the first game created with the EmptyCrate Game Engine.

EmptyCrate Game Engine Release_3

The next release of the EmptyCrate Game Engine has been released.

Changes:

  • Fixed minor game-item scripting problems.
  • Added subtitle feature.

This release also notes the release of the 7th game written using the engine. All games that I'm aware of are available at game.emptycrate.com.

Adventures in Adventure Game Creation

I recently released the EmptyCrate Game Engine and have since written 6 games for the engine. These 6 games represent the first adventure games I have ever worked on, so I thought I would take the time here to share some of what I have learned in the process.

EmptyCrate Game Engine Release_2

EmptyCrate Game Engine Release_2 was just posted to the Google code project page.

This release includes enhancements to the inventory box and the ability for items to interact with each other inside of the inventory.

Also, this release includes a fixed size for the flash applet so that it works properly with smaller screens, such as the Maemo platform.

The game.emptycrate.com site now includes several playable adventure games which work on all know platforms that Flash supports, including MacOSX, Windows and Maemo.
