Jason,
I'm only a little aware of the BibleStudy software you have worked on. I have used wxWidgets on another freeware project I help out with (Audacity audio editor freeware).
I would appreciate your thoughts regarding installation issues. Per guidance from Troy G., I have been spending some time putting together a very bare-bones nsis installer for the upcoming BibleCS beta (aka The SWORD Project).
My impression is that once an end-user has multiple windows software from CrossWire, there are a number of issues related to having a "family of applications" that should share the same resources.
It would be very possible to end up with redundant resources (multiple copies of KJV installed, for example). The SWORD_PATH environment variable is intended to be used for this, but the default appears to leave it undefined. Also, a lot can go wrong with the uninstaller.
"StarterKits" would seem advised (with one Bible text), but there is a lot that can go wrong with these also.
While getting and evaluating feedback from the prototype BibleCS installer, I have been expanding that for an upcoming LcdBible installer. It would have the assumption that BibleCS had already been installed.
Feedback appreciated, and may God bless your efforts on BibleStudy,
Lynn Allan
